I just returned from 3 weeks with the Canadian Snowboardcross team in Switzerland, Austria and Aspen. World Championships happen every 2 years, and this year it was in Kreishberg Austria. Despite the lack on snow in Europe, they managed to pull off this major event with success. Our Canadian athletes performed well, placing 2nd in the mens event and 5th in the women’s.
X-Games in Aspen was a highlight for me and the athletes. This event is unlike any other world cup experience I have had. The energy here is contagious, and it was so exciting to watch the Canadian SBX team excel. Canadians Kevin Hill won the mens snowboard cross event, and Dominique Maltais came 2nd in the women’s event.
This group of Canadian athletes are a dedicated hard working bunch and it has been a pleasure to work and travel with them and the other Canada snowboard staff. The next world cup events will take place in Switzerland and Spain in March. Until then it is great to be home in Squamish and back at Reach Physio. Look forward to seeing you around town or in the clinic soon!
