Booking your first appointment
Thanks for choosing Reach!
Please book an INITIAL visit for your first appointment. We recommend that you book at least 3 visits as most problems don’t get resolved in one or two sessions. This will ensure that you receive follow-up treatment in a timely manner and recover quickly. All appointments are private sessions, with time set aside exclusively for you to receive personalized care.

Late cancellations or No Shows
A late cancellation is one that is made less than 24 hours before the appointment time. Your account may be charged a “late cancellation” fee if we cannot fill the appointment. If you schedule an appointment, which you do not attend (no show), your therapist may charge you a no show fee, especially if they are running a waiting list of clients who would have attended the session. If this happens more than once, you WILL definitely be charged the full amount of the visit. This will also apply to same day cancellations with short notice.
Finding the office
Reach Physio is located at 40137 Government Rd upstairs from Alpine Hand Clinic. Please come in and wait in the waiting area. Amblepath is located just south of Mamquam Elementary School, across the street and reached by turning off Government Rd and immediately crossing the train tracks and following the road curving left into Amblepath development.
Where to park
There is parking immediately on your left, near the community mailboxes and if that’s full, a little further down that same road.
A few things you should bring with you
-
- Your doctor’s referral if you received one. Referrals are NOT required for treatment in BC but may be required for your insurance coverage.
- Any tests or scan results that relate to the problem at hand.
- Clothing you could exercise in, including a pair of shorts for lower body issues.
- Shoes/orthotics- If you have a lower extremity injury related to a sport, it may be helpful for you to bring whatever shoes (including orthotics) you use to participate in that sport.
- Please be sure to complete the intake form sent to you by email prior to attending your appointment. Parents, you will need to complete this form for your child if they are under 16.
Informed Consent
This is a part of the intake form. You may want to consider questions you might have for your therapist prior to signing. It is important that you understand and are able to consider and consent to your treatment. Your consent may be revoked at any time. All risks to any treatment will be fully explained to you by your physiotherapist.
What can I expect from a physiotherapy assessment?
During the initial visit (normally lasting 45 minutes), the physiotherapist will ask questions about your health and the conditions related to your injury or problem. They will then observe and perform the appropriate tests to form a treatment that aligns with your goals. If you have had imaging done, or seen specialists, a copy of any reports could help your therapist with the creation of a treatment plan. Assessment doesn’t end at the first visit though. Each time you return to physiotherapy, your therapist will re-assess to determine your response to treatment, the degree of healing and if changes need to be made to the treatment plan.
Will the treatment cause discomfort or pain ?
For conditions that are acute and painful, the treatment will always focus on reducing your discomfort and pain. For conditions that are more chronic, treatments will vary and may or may not cause a temporary increase in discomfort. It’s important to discuss with your therapist what to expect from the treatment, both during and afterwards. Be sure to find out what you should do after treatment to optimize the results as well.
When could you expect to feel better?
The rate at which healing takes place is very individual, but similar conditions can have set timelines. At the end of the first (or second) visit, your therapist should be able to give you a treatment plan that will give you some idea of the time frame of your recovery. Constant reassessment and re-evaluation is done by the therapist to determine what stage of healing you are at and if adjustments need to be made to the treatment plan. Therapy is a joint effort between the patient and therapist. Your therapist should provide you with the tools/advice/activity suggestions to help you be an active participant in your rehabilitation.
Can I continue my sports or activities while coming in for treatment?
Generally we say that pain is the guideline. Please talk to your therapist to know exactly what is recommended for you regarding sports or activities while getting treatments.
