In Squamish, traumatic climbing injuries such as falls and equipment malfunctions do occur, but the majority of climbing injuries are from repetitive actions.
If you suffer from finger or shoulder issues climbing, don’t ignore it. Your climbing injures will likely not resolve on their own. It is advisable to get it checked out quickly, as left untreated it may become worse and take a longer time to recover.
Our rock climbing physio, Nina offers a climbing specific screening which will highlight strengths and weaknesses you have in flexibility, joint mobility, muscle strength and imbalance. This is an excellent way to start if you have a few different niggles, and/or are wanting to improve your climbing grade and are stuck at a plateau. Addressing your weaknesses will also help towards injury prevention and becoming more robust if an injury was to occur.
This is offered on a 1 to 1 basis for an hour assessment $125. Nina offers junior squad screenings 1-on-1 for 45 min $90 each junior, including a summary write up for the coaches. Nina can also do group junior squad screenings for large numbers (8-15). Please email to enquire at email@example.com
