what do physiotherapists do?
The body’s ability to move may be altered following an injury, trauma, pain, illness, prolonged or repeated postures/movements, inactivity, stress or congenital anomalies. The more time spent fostering movement dysfunction the greater the impact on the whole body.
Your friendly neighbourhood physiotherapist is a health care professional who specialize in restoring, maintaining and improving the movement of your body. Physiotherapists have your independence in mind; their goal is not only to maximize the quality of your movement but also to provide you with the knowledge to do so on your own!
Physiotherapy includes an initial assessment to determine the cause of movement limitation, in order to subsequently create an individualized treatment program. Treatment often aims to improve flexibility, strength, posture and biomechanics(patterns of movement) . Treatment includes education, exercise prescription, and hands on therapy. Your physiotherapists may use any or all of the following techniques : exercise prescription, joint mobilizations & manipulations, acupuncture, IMS, A.R.T. and other soft tissue techniques. Meet our team of Physiotherapists
All our physiotherapy appointments are PRIVATE! Your therapist and you work as a team, in a well appointed private treatment room.
We always conduct a full assessment on your first visit and you’ll notice that we will continually be assessing and reassessing the results of your treatment to make sure you are moving forward.
We listen carefully and look in detail at the underlying causes of the injury, not just the injured part. All our therapists have an excellent orthopaedic knowledge base, as reflected by their undergraduate and post graduate university qualifications.
Some of our therapists have special skills such as acupuncture certification, the ability to practice IMS (intramuscular stimulation) and treat dizziness problems.
Some of the main reasons to come to physiotherapy are:
