Massage Therapy

Not just a pat down

The healthcare field is constantly changing and evolving…. massage therapy is no exception.  Quick… When I say massage…. you think: ?? A softly lit room with candles, hot stones, relaxation…thank god for my company benefits?!

Although these images of massage are by no means a misconception, they certainly don’t illustrate the whole picture.  Massage is no longer just a light rub down. The number of skills and techniques being employed by massage therapists is constantly expanding providing you with a more comprehensive treatment to improve your wellbeing.

Massage therapy continues to be a hands-on therapeutic technique that focuses primarily on the body’s soft tissue ( skin, muscles, fascia, etc), while producing positive effects on the circulatory, lymphatic and nervous systems.  General massage boast many benefits to the whole body including: promoting relaxation, decreasing pain, decreasing muscle tension and spasm , reducing scar tissue and adhesions within and between muscles and fascia , and improving circulation; to nourish muscles and remove waste products from tissues.  Different techniques offered by your massage therapist will focus on different structures in the body and address different problems. Deep tissue massage, rolfing and visceral manipulation are among some of the techniques used at our office.massage therapy
