Physiotherapy FAQs
Do I need a referral?
No, you do not need a referral to see your physiotherapist! However, if you are looking for coverage for physiotherapy from your health care benefits at work, then you will need a referral. If you have a referral, make sure you bring it with you.
How do I prepare for my first appointment? What do I bring with me?
Forms: Come 10 minutes early to your appointment to fill out your intake form or print it off the webpage and fill it out in advance
Clothing: Although we do have some exceptionally unattractive 1970’s clinic apparel, we recommend that you bring clothing that will allow your therapist to see the injured part of your body, ie- shorts, a sports bra or tanktop. If you are a runner, or participating in an impact sport, you can also bring your footwear/orthotics with you. In addition if you have any mobility or bracing devices you can bring those along too!
Referrals/ Tests/Medications: If you have a referral please bring it with you. If you have had any diagnostic tests done with regards to your injury x-rays, ultrasound or MRI please have your Dr. Fax those to our clinic prior to your appointment, as this information is invaluable to your therapist. Please bring al list of any medications you are using, particularly for the injury. If you are currently taking pain medications, it is preferred that you do not take them immediately prior to your assessment, as this will make the assessment harder to perform and may result in increased soreness after the assessment.
Am I covered for physiotherapy?
