Maggie grew up in Wolfville Nova Scotia where she competed in many sports, most notably ski racing and cycling. At age 15 a ski racing injury resulted in knee surgery. Since then, she has been interested in and fascinated with physiotherapy as a means of recovery and rehabilitation.

She studied sports med/athletic therapy at Acadia University where she worked as a student therapist with the varsity football and hockey teams. After receiving her BKIN (H), she accepted an intern position at an athletic training center in San Francisco where she worked with children and adults ages 8-80 using fitness to achieve their athletic and health goals. She then furthered her studies with a Masters of Kinesiology at U of Calgary, specializing in exercise science where she was fortunate to work with everyone from breast cancer survivors to the national speed skating team from both a research and exercise testing and programming stand point.  After stints with the Fernie ski team, Calgary swim club and the Canadian Development cycling/mountain bike teams, she took a position with the Canadian Para-alpine Ski Team as their Sport Physiologist and Strength & Conditioning coach.

While working with the Canadian Para-alpine Ski Team, she decided to further her studies and pursue clinical practice by enrolling in and graduating from UBC with a Masters of Physical Therapy in 2007. The move to Vancouver introduced her to Squamish where she and her husband moved for the mountain biking and skiing lifestyle and the feel of a small-town community…

She has been in Squamish since 2007 and while here has furthered her physiotherapy skills with courses in manual therapy, myofascial release, and acupuncture.  In between trips to international races and training camps with the Para-alpine ski team, she was always found on her mountain bike or on cross country or alpine skis. But now, Maggie is currently off on maternity leave until January…as she is learning about her biggest adventure yet: Motherhood. Maggie & husband Trent are the proud parents of Logan Alexander, born in June.

Maggie is looking forward to a continued expansion of her career in private practice and is very keen to help a community resplendent with injuries related to lifestyle, work and play. With a keen affinity for those with knee injuries, she readily relates to anyone with an injury, and is keen to play a role in their return to a healthy and active lifestyle.?Request an appointment
