Starting in May, Emily Johnson is the second Calgarian (third Albertan?) to grace Reach Physio’s treatment rooms…. turns out Alberta can produce more than just great beef!   Her learning journey began in the tropical climes of Edmonton Alberta, where she acquired her Bilingual Bachelor of Biology with distinction. Although she knew physiotherapy was her destiny, she felt a 2 year work-travel experience could not be passed up. She hopped , skipped and jumped around New Zealand, SE Asia,Kenya, and Eastern Europe.  To her parents great relief, She abandoned her hobo ways and returned to Canada to complete her Masters in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto.

Although Toronto boasted delicious food, fabulous fashion and amazing live music….. something was missing in Emily’s life…. the mountains were calling!!!!! But alas , Emily could not return to the rockies  and the oil soaked tailings ponds from whence she came….  there had been whispers of a  magical place in British Columbia that “could make all of your outdoor fantasies come true….. Squwu7mesh aka Squamish”.

The rumours were true…. and now Emily spends her time like many others in Squamish trying to maximize the number of hours she can spend outside each day!!!!!  Emily currently enjoys trail running, cycling, rock climbing, and bouldering but can hardly wait for the winter season to bring cross-country skiing and backcountry boarding.  Normally, Emily has been satisfied with learning a new sport every season, but  since arriving in Squamish her sports to do list has more than tripled.

Although Emily graduated over a year ago, her learning extravaganza has continued and she is already a  full body certified A.R.T. Active Release Techniques provider, is fully certified in Anatomical Acupuncture and is in the process of acquiring her second orthopaedic levels.  Emily is thrilled to be working with such a happy, healthy athletic population in squamish , and looks forward to keeping passionate people doing the things they love most!
